Volkswagen Ecoracer
It wowed the crowds at last month's Tokyo Motor Show, and points to a future of fast cars that's very different to the ones we know today. Volkswagen's 83mpg, 143mph EcoRacer is here to change the minds of everyone who thinks fuel efficiency and low running costs mean slow, boring hybrid saloons. In fact, it's hard to know where to start with this innovative two-seater coupé. The EcoRacer's bodywork and chassis are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFP) - VW calls it a 'polycoque'.
