February car sales figures

Posted on March 9, 2007 @ 9:28 am

Results from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders shows that new car registrations fell by 3.17% in February, but despite this figure, Mini had a good month. They have increased sales by 21% in February since the release of the new Mini Cooper models.

February normally has lower sales figures due to the fact that people tend to wait for new cars and the new number plate to be released in March. Even so, sales are still 2.5% higher than this time last year.

It has been a bad month for Land Rover, Jaguar, and Peugeot. Land Rover have had a disappointing month with sales figures 5.89% lower than this time last year. Jaguar sales figures were down by 11% from this time last year, adding to the loss that the company seems to be making and Peugeot sales figures have dropped by nearly 25% from this time last year. The main reason for the slump in sales for Peugeot has been apparent since they closed their only UK manufacturing plant in January.

Toyota is one of only a few car manufacturers who has had a good month with an increase in sales of 32.4%.
