Posted on November 2, 2006 @ 5:01 pm

Following on from a profitable 2005, Skoda has continued set new company records so far in 2006.

Three quarters of the year was enough for the Skoda Auto Group to surpass its 2005 pre-tax profit of £238.6 million.

Breaking another record, the company’s pre-tax result as at September 30, 2006 was £250.8 million (+56.6% compared to last year). Simultaneously with efforts aimed at increasing revenues, the company also improved its results by cutting the costs of materials through a number of process optimisation programmes.

The Third Quarter headcount (worldwide) was 27,242. The increase (+908 people) is a result of recruitment efforts relating to the launch of the new Skoda Roomster model.

Compared to last year, deliveries to customers (410,719 vehicles over the January – September period) have grown by 11.1%. All of the company’s models have contributed to the increase in sales, including the new Skoda Roomster, which has been launched successfully in Skoda’s most important markets.

Record sales results were achieved in a number of countries in September, primarily in the U.K., Germany, Romania, the Ukraine, Lithuania and Russia. Skoda’s market share has increased notably in the East European markets, whose importance continues to grow.
