Audi’s new TT

The Audi TT is one of the most iconic cars of the last decade - but can the German marque come close to matching that success with the TT’s second incarnation?

It’s not often car makers come up with an instant classic, but that’s what Audi managed with the original TT. Named after the famous Isle of Man race, it struck that rare balance between being a must-have fashion accessory while also offering the thrills and spills of a proper driver’s car.

The front of the new TT is probably the most dramatic departure from the original. It keeps the new shaped grille from the ‘Shooting Brake’ concept showcased at the Detroit Motor Show.
Added to that is a much lower, more aggresive stance with narrower, sharper looking headlights and more pronounced lines running up the bonnet.

Side on, the new TT still retains the distinctive profile of the original while Audi’s designers have done a good job sharpening up the profile, while The rear flows down from the roof while it retains and tweaks the distinctive rear lights.

A hatchback combined with the extra length of the car should also allow for more boot space than the comedy cubby hole of the original.
