One light doesn’t sound like it will be better than dozens, but in this case it is. A breakthrough in LED technology could change car styling for ever.
Scientists have built a single lamp unit that is a match for the multiple bulbs currently used on models such as the Peugeot 307 CC. “This is a huge milestone for the automotive industry,” explained Steve Landau of creator Lumileds, based in California.
“At these levels of performance, it will be possible to have tail, brake and indicator lights on a single
unit.” As LEDs don’t burn out like ordinary filament bulbs, they can last longer than the life of a car - so drivers are unlikely ever to have to replace them.

Going topless just got easier - for a price. With impeccable timing, the latest Porsche 911 Cabriolet is hitting the UK as the summer arrives. Customers here have been made to wait a year for the drop-top, so was it worth the delay? Auto Express got behind the wheel to find out… and considering the Cabrio commands a £7,230 premium over the Coupé, it needed to be good!
Our infamous weather means soft-top driving can be a hazardous exercise. However, Porsche has done a fine job of letting owners take advantage of even the smallest ray of sunshine.

We have all been guilty at some time of neglecting our cars for long stretches of time, only to get the sudden urge to give it a clean and polish and be horrified by the amount of elbow grease required. The best way to keep on top of the state of your car is to do it often. Leaving the bodywork and alloys without due care and attention leads to difficulty in polishing later and sometimes complete disrepair.

With half of its engine R&D budget spent on gasoline engines and the other 50 percent on diesel mills, it was only natural for Mercedes-Benz to try and come up with a power plant which could run on both fuels.
According to report from British magazine Autocar, the German automaker is working on a gasoline-diesel hybrid that would reach consumers about a decade from now.

“Step by step, the components of diesel and gasoline engines are growing closer: the combustion process, common-rail direct injection, turbocharging,” believes M-B R&D man Thomas Weber. “In the end, we believe this development will see the complete integration of the two engines into one type which combines the best of gasoline and diesel.”

Google To Feed You Ads by David Utter
Google’s AdSense for Feeds gives advertisers placement in popular web site feeds everywhere.
RSS and Atom feeds of web sites showed so much promise. No more going from site to site to see the content you want. Just fire up a compatible feed reader and there’s the content from as many sites as you like, aggregated in one place.
It took providers about a fraction of a nanosecond to include ads with those feeds.
But many think feeds are the wave of the future, where the desired demographics will go for their web content. Google, a very smart company, thinks this way now.
